Room 311; Saint James, Barbados; Wednesday Evening [02/16] - Wednesday Night Room Party!

One of the things Summer loved about these tropical school trips is that the making jello shots from local products to really celebrate the place they were visiting during her Wednesday Room Party was sooooo freaking easy. And Barbados had some great options, so, after spending a day of setting it up and getting snacks and other drinks for everyone to enjoy, she was ready to open her door and invite people in for yet another successful room party!

Snacks were moddable and danced that line between typical party fare and local inspirations, and the same could be said for the beer, soda, and stuff for mixing drinks. The jello shots, though, were obviously the stars of the show: passion fruit and prosecco and passion fruit and rum (from yesterday's distillery tour, even!), mango and pineapple and coconut. Even some avocado and something spicy with some local scotch bonnet peppers, and some more with rum, one with root beer and one with ginger beer.

But that starfruit punch was probably her best worst idea ever.

Whatever, it was Wednesday on a school trip! The room was actually really great for this sort of thing, too! Come party it up and regret some decisions in the morning! It's fine, you've still got plenty of days of vacation recovery time left!

Rey was not going to need a recovery day, but she was of course going to a Summee room party.

And knowing that you'd only have one or two of the shots meant she got to really check them out in order to decide which to take.

One thing that was great about a room party over a typical Wednesday at Caritas was that Summer didn't have a bar between herself and her friends, so when she spotted Rey, it meant she could go up and give her a hug right out the gate.

"Rey! You made it! Please have a few jello shots! How've you been liking the trip so far?"

"I'm having fun," she said, hugging Summer back. "It's a little more relaxed than I'm used to. How's yours been?"

"A little more relaxed than you're used to is exactly what I've been saying you could use more of, anyway," Summer pointed out with a snort. "And it's been great! I mean, kind of hard not to be with that beach and I'm really looking forward to some dancing and music for the weekend."

"There's dancing and music for the weekend?" Rey asked.

"I mean," said Summer, "I hope so! This place seems to have a pretty decent nightlife, but you can't go to a club on a Tuesday and get the full experience, you've got to save that for the weekend, sopm pretty much this is starting the party portion of my vacay."

"This is a good way to start," Rey decided. "I would think Tuesday would still be okay when everyone's on vacation."

"Yeah, but is everyone on vacation?" Summer asked. "Sure, like, everyone here," her finger twirled around to indicate the hotel, "is, but not, like, the locals. I can party with all you guys whenever. I wanna see what this place can do on a Friday night club bender."

"I hope you get everything you want out of it," Rey told her. "Remember to hydrate."

That sounded like a challenge, Rey's narrative!

"You're here. Good. Hello, Rey."

"I said I would," she said with a smile. "How'd your vacation?"

[stykera]

"I like it here," Stark said. "It's beautiful and I'm very glad to be warm for a few days. You're enjoying it too, I hope?"

[thatwaslucky]

"I am! It's slower than I'm used to, so it's a bit of an adjustment."

Yes, the more reason to take a vacation.

[stykera]

"It's good to slow down sometimes," Stark said. "But also good to keep busy. As long as you know when to do each. Which can be difficult, I know."

[thatwaslucky]

"And that's on me," she admitted. "I'm enjoying myself. It's just hard to break out of habits when you don't do this much."

Years. Literal years.

[stykera]

"Maybe you need more trips. Or scheduled breaks where you just relax."

Let Summer convert you to being a spa person. It was great, Rey!

She'd tried, it didn't take!

"Maybe," she shrugged. "What have you been up to this trip?"

[stykera]

"We went to the beach first thing."

Because warm! And swimsuits!

"Yesterday we went to the rum distillery. They paired it with chocolate for tastings. Where have you gone?"

"I went to the cave yesterday," she said. "Some shopping, a few walks on the beach. I've been keeping things simple."

[stykera]

"How was the cave? It sounded interesting. There's always more to do than there's time for but we still have a few days left. Perhaps there will be more caves."

Or clubbing. But the caves would be a daytime activity, surely.

"Did you find anything interesting while shopping?"

[thatwaslucky]

"Just a few things for people who didn't make the trip," she said. "And the cave was beautiful. You should go while we're here."

[stykera]

"I should," Stark agreed.

Hopefully there would be time!

"Do you have plans for the rest of the trip?"
