So, the whole space part of Summer's plan for Annie's party didn't exactly pan out the way she was hoping. Part of her conversation with Lucifer on Wednesday had turned out to be somewhat prophetic, as one for her choices for location had conveniently decided to start a galactic civil war with their moon colonies, and the other place, apparently, didn't even exist anymore. The best guess was that it somehow involved Cromulans, which meant that planet was pretty much space dust now, which meant that Summer could pretty much kiss her deposit on that venue good-bye.

Which was fine! If she couldn't still pull together a more terrestrial party at the last minute, then she truly should just hang up her party crown now and retire in shame. So emails and texts went out, the gnomes at Portalocity would hopefully cooperate in sharing the news with anyone who showed up expecting to head elsewhere, that the party was relocated. And Summer was going to just use her own place for the cause, but, really, through the ensuing chain of events in preparation that morning, she remembered that Diego's apartment was pretty much literally right across the hall and easily twice as large.

So Diego's apartment it was!

Honestly, as boyfriend, it was literally the least he could do.

But because it was a little last minute and Summer didn't have the benefit of foisting at least half the cleaning duties on an NPC bartender like she could at Caritas, the decorations were a bit more...restrained. Oh, sure, there was still going to be glitter everywhere and every corner that Summer had access to was decked out in stars, but the mood was much different, trying to go for something a little more elegent in mood, with starlights draped out on the balcony, draped over doors, and projected over the walls and ceiling.

Look, if they couldn't make it out to space due to galactic conflict and super harsh critics with planet-exploding capabilities, they could at least try to bring the space to them.

"I hear congratulations are in order," Steve said, grinning.

"Obviously running those stairs gave me the edge over my competition," Annie said with a little acknowledging bow of her head. "Countess and Stormfront should've found themselves a SEAL to train with."

"Too bad for them," Steve said, grinning. "Can I get a hug?"

"Of course you get a hug," Annie told him, leaning up to do just that. "Thank you for coming. Summer kinda went all out."

"Diego's gonna be picking glitter out of his teeth for a week," Steve said, giving her a tight hug. "I'm very proud of you," he added more sincerely.

"Thank you," Annie said, just as sincere. "It's all kind of surreal still? Like, I have literally wanted this since I was little."

Which he may have known from first-hand experience, considering she'd introduced herself as Starlight when they'd both been children that time.

"Nothing wrong with that," Steve said. "I wanted to be a SEAL from way back, and that's a goal that impossible for most people, too. You got there. Enjoy it."

"I am," Annie sighed happily. "I mean, it's gonna be a lot of work, I think? The hard part for sure isn't over."

Which was why tonight was jello shot night! And then no more jello shots for awhile, probably.

"The hard part isn't over," Steve confirmed, smiling, "but it's what you've worked for, so that makes it less hard."

"I think the hardest part, honestly, is gonna be being famous," Annie admitted. "Like, I can deal with performing and people looking at me and stuff, but like, I might be in a movie or something."

Or her own reality show and a movie.

"Oooh, should I get your autograph now and then sell it and have enough to retire on?" Steve teased.

"I mean, Steve, I like you enough I'll give you an autographed poster or a Starlight shirt if you want it, even," Annie told him graciously. "And then you can throw it on my universe's eBay and make a killing.

Spoiler: he would be getting a non-autographed Starlight shirt whether he actually wanted one or not, in fact.

"See, and Danny says I have no plans for the future," Steve laughed. "I'm going to sell Starlight merch!"

"It's solid retirement plan," Annie told him with a firm nod. "Tell Danny I said so."

Annie, you were supposed to be a better influence than this.

"I will!" Steve said, grinning.

So expect an angry blond sometime, Annie.
