So, the whole space part of Summer's plan for Annie's party didn't exactly pan out the way she was hoping. Part of her conversation with Lucifer on Wednesday had turned out to be somewhat prophetic, as one for her choices for location had conveniently decided to start a galactic civil war with their moon colonies, and the other place, apparently, didn't even exist anymore. The best guess was that it somehow involved Cromulans, which meant that planet was pretty much space dust now, which meant that Summer could pretty much kiss her deposit on that venue good-bye.

Which was fine! If she couldn't still pull together a more terrestrial party at the last minute, then she truly should just hang up her party crown now and retire in shame. So emails and texts went out, the gnomes at Portalocity would hopefully cooperate in sharing the news with anyone who showed up expecting to head elsewhere, that the party was relocated. And Summer was going to just use her own place for the cause, but, really, through the ensuing chain of events in preparation that morning, she remembered that Diego's apartment was pretty much literally right across the hall and easily twice as large.

So Diego's apartment it was!

Honestly, as boyfriend, it was literally the least he could do.

But because it was a little last minute and Summer didn't have the benefit of foisting at least half the cleaning duties on an NPC bartender like she could at Caritas, the decorations were a bit more...restrained. Oh, sure, there was still going to be glitter everywhere and every corner that Summer had access to was decked out in stars, but the mood was much different, trying to go for something a little more elegent in mood, with starlights draped out on the balcony, draped over doors, and projected over the walls and ceiling.

Look, if they couldn't make it out to space due to galactic conflict and super harsh critics with planet-exploding capabilities, they could at least try to bring the space to them.

"You wouldn't want to be in an apartment that was my vibe," Diego joked. "It'd be like a cave."

"I dunno, I like your vibe, and at least caves are all, like, dark and cozy and private," Annie pointed out, lifting her brows at him significantly. "Kind of romantic, even."

Annie was pretty happy that it seemed like everything had gone back to normal as of this morning, yes. Dark and cozy and private and romantic sounded like a great vibe for the remaining hours she had on this island with him, please.

Diego chuckled, reaching for another jello shot. "I think it's going to take some time to get this apartment back to the whole cave vibe after this."

"It might never be the same," Annie agreed, watching him. "But without me around as much, it might bounce back faster, who knows."

"I don't know, I might be less inclined to clean without you around," he joked. "I'll turn into some hermit hoarder person."

"You do want me to visit, right?" Annie teased, arching her brows at him skeptically. "You have to keep the place at least girlfriend-tolerable levels of clean."

Plus she'd probably clean things when she came to visit, anyway. It was soothing.

"I'll just scramble and clean really quick when I know you're coming," he joked.

"So you would rather not have fun surprise visits?" Annie asked with a smile. "I had kind of been considering making use of my key on occasion."

The kind of surprises where he'd come home to find her here and naked or something, and not the kind where she'd startle him and risk getting a knife thrown at her. She knew who she was dating, thank you.

He would have felt very bad about that, even if the knife wouldn't hurt her.

"I would love surprise visits," Diego said. "But also remember yesterday."

"I will never, in my life, be as surprising as Five," Annie promised, her cheeks going a little pink. "Don't worry about that."

She was still pretty sure he hadn't seen anything but also, like, Five, way to, like, be Five.

He smiled. "More like I don't think he's going to learn his lesson about knocking until you actually blind him. Maybe just one eye?"

"Far be it for me, an only child, to speculate about the ways of siblings," Annie said, "but if I walked in on my brother attempting to sex up his girlfriend in the shower, I would never risk that happening again."

You know? Call her crazy.

"Definitely won't stop him," Diego said with a shake of his head. "He probably thinks it's our fault for not expecting him to pop in at any moment."

"In the bathroom?" Annie asked. "Like, it's not like we were on the couch."

Though that was not exactly an unlikely scenario.

Diego shrugged. "I don't pretend to know the reasoning behind his sick actions."

"So maybe we do some of our visiting in my place, since I'm keeping it for now and all," Annie suggested, frowning a little. "Though really, your apartment is huge. Maybe Five just deserves to be traumatized if he shows up again."

Annie was ignoring the fact that Five hadn't seemed especially traumatized yesterday, yes. A polite, normal person would have been, okay?

Yeah, but the keywords there were "polite" and "normal".

"I mean, I'm pretty sure if he actually saw anything he would be horrified." It was just yesterday between the steam and the shower curtain there had been enough covered for him to act like a dick instead.

"And he would deserve to be!" Annie declared indignantly, like she herself wouldn't immediately try to change her name and move to another country if Five actually saw anything. "Maybe we could get him to use his phone to text you if he's thinking of coming over? Even if knocking is too much."

"Sure, we could try that." Would that work? Absolutely not.

"Maybe we could come up with a code. Like we text him an emoji heart if it's a real bad idea to come over, you know?" Annie suggested.

Bonus points: Five would probably find this repulsive.

"Like the text version of a sock on the doorknob?" he said, laughing.

"Exactly," Annie said, "and if he used the door like a normal person, we could just do that."

Not that they should have to in the privacy of Diego's own apartment but apparently they did.
