So, the whole space part of Summer's plan for Annie's party didn't exactly pan out the way she was hoping. Part of her conversation with Lucifer on Wednesday had turned out to be somewhat prophetic, as one for her choices for location had conveniently decided to start a galactic civil war with their moon colonies, and the other place, apparently, didn't even exist anymore. The best guess was that it somehow involved Cromulans, which meant that planet was pretty much space dust now, which meant that Summer could pretty much kiss her deposit on that venue good-bye.

Which was fine! If she couldn't still pull together a more terrestrial party at the last minute, then she truly should just hang up her party crown now and retire in shame. So emails and texts went out, the gnomes at Portalocity would hopefully cooperate in sharing the news with anyone who showed up expecting to head elsewhere, that the party was relocated. And Summer was going to just use her own place for the cause, but, really, through the ensuing chain of events in preparation that morning, she remembered that Diego's apartment was pretty much literally right across the hall and easily twice as large.

So Diego's apartment it was!

Honestly, as boyfriend, it was literally the least he could do.

But because it was a little last minute and Summer didn't have the benefit of foisting at least half the cleaning duties on an NPC bartender like she could at Caritas, the decorations were a bit more...restrained. Oh, sure, there was still going to be glitter everywhere and every corner that Summer had access to was decked out in stars, but the mood was much different, trying to go for something a little more elegent in mood, with starlights draped out on the balcony, draped over doors, and projected over the walls and ceiling.

Look, if they couldn't make it out to space due to galactic conflict and super harsh critics with planet-exploding capabilities, they could at least try to bring the space to them.

"It adds a little something," Rey smiled. "It's the smart move to actually be comfortable at your own party."

"I'm kind of hoping that maybe Vought has some kind of, like, stretchy-but-indestructible fabric that they'll use to kit me out in a new version of the uniform, maybe," Annie shared. Welp. "'Cause, like, it's super pretty, but my uniform is like -- "

Annie exaggeratedly sucked in her breath, holding a hand to her diaphragm. "Kinda like this," she continued, in a strained little voice.

"How do you fight in it if you can't breathe?" Rey wondered.

"You get used to it," she admitted, though yeah, she'd probably be more effective once she could actually move more freely! "Helps that blasting doesn't require a ton of movement. But I've totally ripped my seams punching dudes before."

It was really more of a pageant outfit than a fighty one, but good luck convincing Annie's mother or Vought that those two weren't the same thing.

"And fixing a uniform is probably not a fun added step," Rey said.

...while wearing clothes she could somersault in at a moment's notice.

"Do they usually let you come up with new uniforms?"

"I'm not really sure," Annie told her. "I mean, I designed my uniform and hopefully I'll get to keep it? But usually if someone changes their outfit some big impressive designer is behind it or something."

"Like the... fashion show people?" Unsurprisingly that wasn't something she'd ever really focused on to know more than that.

"Yep," Annie said, nodding. "There's some big-name designer lady who did Homelander's suit and I think A-Train's, when he was signed, too. But like I think the big thing is keeping it consistent, 'cause there's so many, like, toys and stuff made of us."

Which meant that Annie -- who had been so excited to have her very own action figure at her birthday -- was about to have whole big section of the pink aisle at Toys R Us to herself.

(Annie's universe still had Toys R Us. Obviously.)

"Kids are going to get to play with your toys," Rey said, and that was the first part of this whole thing that had sounded like a perk to her, personally. "That's incredible."

Annie nodded, clearly delighted by this as well. "There'll be action figures and dolls for sure -- like, I know for a fact they're already working on a plush doll," she shared. "But like...there'll be Halloween costumes of me and stuff, too, when the time comes. Tons of stuff for kids."

Like, carseats with her on them. Band-aids with her on them. Little kid cutlery with her little stars on them.

"And for your adult friends."

Let's be real.

"I will totally get you a Starlight plush when they roll them out," Annie assured her with a firm nod. "Though, honestly, I'm great and all, but you'd probably like Queen Maeve's stuff more. She's less sparkly."

"She's not my friend though." This was a loyalty thing here.

"In that case, you're getting the full Starlight line of stuff as it comes out," Annie decided.

Get excited to incorporate some yellow into your wardrobe, Rey.

"I'd be honored," Rey laughed.
