So, the whole space part of Summer's plan for Annie's party didn't exactly pan out the way she was hoping. Part of her conversation with Lucifer on Wednesday had turned out to be somewhat prophetic, as one for her choices for location had conveniently decided to start a galactic civil war with their moon colonies, and the other place, apparently, didn't even exist anymore. The best guess was that it somehow involved Cromulans, which meant that planet was pretty much space dust now, which meant that Summer could pretty much kiss her deposit on that venue good-bye.

Which was fine! If she couldn't still pull together a more terrestrial party at the last minute, then she truly should just hang up her party crown now and retire in shame. So emails and texts went out, the gnomes at Portalocity would hopefully cooperate in sharing the news with anyone who showed up expecting to head elsewhere, that the party was relocated. And Summer was going to just use her own place for the cause, but, really, through the ensuing chain of events in preparation that morning, she remembered that Diego's apartment was pretty much literally right across the hall and easily twice as large.

So Diego's apartment it was!

Honestly, as boyfriend, it was literally the least he could do.

But because it was a little last minute and Summer didn't have the benefit of foisting at least half the cleaning duties on an NPC bartender like she could at Caritas, the decorations were a bit more...restrained. Oh, sure, there was still going to be glitter everywhere and every corner that Summer had access to was decked out in stars, but the mood was much different, trying to go for something a little more elegent in mood, with starlights draped out on the balcony, draped over doors, and projected over the walls and ceiling.

Look, if they couldn't make it out to space due to galactic conflict and super harsh critics with planet-exploding capabilities, they could at least try to bring the space to them.

"He absolutely is," Rey confirmed. "I'm still finding glitter from Christmas."

She paused, and said, "It'll show up even more on all the black clothing."

"Exactly." Guys, stop being so mean to poor Diego. "Rey, right? In the apartment above me."

"That's me. And you're Danny. I think there's still a rope between our lanais."

Unless Steve took it down. Never take it down, Steve.

"There is," Danny said with a sigh. "Apologies for the possible knife marks. Steve tried stabbing the mistletoe when it got mean."

"As reasons for knife marks go, that's a very valid reason," Rey pointed out.

"Or he could have just ignored them," Danny ventured. "It's not like any of what they said was true."

"It doesn't always feel that way when you're having things yelled at you by a plant," Rey pointed out.

Danny opened his mouth to respond to that before sighing. "I really hate that this is even a discussion that needs to happen about sentient plantlife."

"Just wait until the day you don't even notice that it's a strange topic," Rey smiled.

"No," Danny said, holding up a hand to stave that off. "Nuh-uh."

"So I shouldn't tell you I used to say that too?" Rey asked.

"Only if you want to hurt me," Danny replied. "Is that it?"

"Of course not. In fact I'm sure there are plenty of people who have been here a while and still recognize how strange it it."

And because it was Rey, that actually sounded sincere.

Which was why Danny accepted it rather than sigh again. "I'll be happy to just have a nice, quiet couple weeks right now."

You jinxed it, Danny.

"Well," Rey said hesitantly, "something always attacks at graduation."

"Why?" Real talk here. Why?

"I'm not sure. It is contained, though," Rey added.

"Well, I'll kindly pass on that then." And make the troopers deal with it.

"If I go, I'll let you know what happens," she promised.

"Is this a thing for the island? People go to watch whatever the heck goes on like it's... gladiatorial games?"

Yes. Pretty much.

"Some people, probably. Also just to know what happened," Rey said. "I've only ever been to my own."

"Well, I can assure you no such thing happened at my high school graduation." Because he lived a boring life. Comparatively.

If you ignored half of it.

"Thats probably because you went somewhere normal," Rey stated.

"Blissfully normal," he agreed. "The craziest thing was someone gettin' caught smoking weed in the school parking lot."

"Yeah, I don't think anyone's ever done that here," she said.
