MHA #8; Friday After the Meet & Greet [09/29].
So, Summer's loser ex-husband had shown up for a Parents Weekend, again. She didn't know why, she didn't know how (although she had some theories), but she did know that it was the last thing she wanted to deal with right now. Ugh! This was supposed to be a nice, carefree PW with no guests except other people's so she could just reconnect with previous visitors and maybe meet some new ones, and not have to deal with that one guy she married when she was seventeen because it was the apocalypse and her parents were getting a divorce.
Unfortunately, Hemorrhage knew where she lived, so she couldn't just hide out in her room all weekend, either. She'd have to find somewhere else to go, and the next possible thing that came to her mind was exactly one floor up and with a lock that she could practically pick in her sleep.
(She should maybe get her own key one of these days, but locking picking was a good way to work out some of her frustration).
And so now, in Stark's apartment, she was pretty much wearing out a line in his floor with pacing back and forth and trying to think of how best to take care of this situation and this asshole with a penchant for ruining her Parents Weekends.
Honestly, at this point, she'd almost wished she had gotten Rick instead.

"We brought food," Chiana told her as she held out the plate. "In case you need it."
Stark nodded. "Are you alright? Who was that... man?"
no subject
"That's Hemorrhage," she then said, disdain dripping off every syllable as she dropped onto the couch with another grunt. "My ex."
One she clearly should have blown up like a few of the others.
And she was about to say that she wasn't hungry, and then she actually saw the plate Chiana had, and, you know what? Stress eating sounded pretty good right now, actually, so now she was making somewhat petulant grabby hands for it.

Chiana handed over the plate and cocked her head at Summer. "What's he look like under the bucket?"
Stark gave her a Look and shook his head, moving over to sit at the opposite end of the couch.
"What do you need?"
no subject
His moustache was so bad, Chiana.
"And I don't know," she admitted. "Maybe to just not have my creepy ex-husband keep thinking he can show up on any given Parents Weekend and ruin the whole thing? And, okay, I mean, maybe, maaaaybe he's here to be all 'oh, Summer, the mutant uprising got pretty bad again, and no one could plow through her enemies with blazing merciless glory like you can, we need your help, you're our only hope!', but I really fucking doubt it."
More of the muffin promptly entered her mouth, just after an indignant huff.
no subject
"Your husband?" Stark asked, gaping a little. "You...I don't think I knew that. That you'd...oh."
no subject
"And," she added, more to the point, "papers were signed the last time he was here.
no subject
"Can't blame a girl for things she did under pressure," she said with a quirk of her lips. It was a subject area she had some experience with herself.
"But Stark you seem real interested in this husband situation. Why's that, huh?"
no subject
Probably not helping, Summer.
But then she just sighed and went to pluck the next most unhealthy thing off the plate and her shoulders sagged.
"I guess I'll have to talk to him at some point," she said, making a face. "See what he actually wants this time..."
no subject
You know, nearly all of it.
"Talking might work. You could always just hide out here. Stark and I'll keep you company, right?"
Stark glanced over at her and nodded slightly.
"Do you want to talk with him, Summer? You don't have to. Chiana's right. And...of course I'm interested, Chiana! She's...we're...of course I am!"
no subject
"I should talk to him," she decided, reluctantly. That would be the mature, adult thing to do. "...eventually. I just needed some time to process, you know? That's a lot to just spring on someone unexpectedly, it's, like, god, text or something first, you know?"
Just forget that she had his number blocked, ahem.
no subject
"She's what? You're what?"
Stark tried to ignore her, focusing on Summer instead.
"Do you want us to come with you?"
no subject
"No," she said, "it's fine, it's my problem, I'll handle it. I just...need to figure out what to say. Since, you know, apparently, 'hey, here's some divorce papers and I never want to see you again, byeeeeee' didn't get the message across last time."
no subject
Chiana noted the lack of answers and just nodded to herself.

Did that clear anything up, Chiana?
"You sleeping on the floor, Stark?"
Apparently not.

"That's what I thought," she said. "I frelling knew it."
no subject
"Well!" she announced. "If I'm crashing here, I better at least make sure Pancakes has got enough food."
And then made no hesitation in heading back over to the door.

"I think I'll be fine," she decided, after too many flashbacks of sending Stark and Morty out for ice cream so she could speak more privately with Zhaan and remembering how well that had gone.
no subject
"Right. We'll be here when you get back."
And she could maybe ask Stark a few questions to make him squirm while they waited!
