It had taken a bit to get there, but the whirlwind of Summer's burst of party planning was finally coming to frution. There had been the flyers, of course, some good radio coverage, and the ubitquitously handwaved mass text, so hopefully people knew about it enough to show up. Especially since a lot of work had been put into making Goose's apartment party ready. For one thing, it actually had furniture, plenty of sofas and ottomans for the guests to sit, arranged to also allow for a lot of standing and gathering room (and, yes, yes, for all the wall flowers, a few meticulously curated shadowy corners, you're welcome. But most of the decor attention would probably be put into the magic work Summer had Margo and Eliot do.

With the faint scent of rose and mint in the air, the entire ceiling was cloaked in the vastness of outer space. But not just any space, because, in Summer's experience, space was actually kind of boring, so they pumped it up, they amped the colors, they filled it with a ton of glitter (of course). Distant planets and swirls of galaxies and pulsating quasars dotted the starscape in swatches of pink and purple and green, some glowing bright with neon. Shooting stars would occasionally trail overhead and across the walls, leaving behind a dusting of color and glitter and occasionally a message that called out "Happy Birthday, Goose!" with another message trailing behind it that read "(And Gladio, too!)". Occsionally, the starscape would seem to swell a little and expand, so that, on occasion, it would feel as though you weren't just looking at it, but almost being surrounded by space until it moved on.

The spare bedroom had been converted into a karaoke room, there was a jello table and a tended bar set up, with an ice luge embedded with neon lights, and a keg all dolled up to look like a container of Cup Noodle. And speaking of Cup Noodle, don't anyone forget Cup Noodle gift bags! There's plenty for everyone, at a table by the door, so you can help yourself to that excellent tote filled with some of the most random (and pretty moddable) chintzy Cup Noodle junk Summer could find on cheap Chinese websites (the real highlights, though, robably being the slippers and the candle).

The kitchen, of course, was dedicated to be the haven of Ignis, who staunchly refused to do anything Cup Noodle related for his food offerings, which, if you asked Summer, were a bit much for a party where she was hoping everyone would be quickly too drunk to care about what they were putting in their mouths, but, hey, you do you, Specs.

She'd even hired a bouncer, mostly for raccoons, but also for students, let's be real, and since she usually hired Gladio for that position, putting in Billy this time around seemed like the obvious choice, and she was even being very, very good about not just calling him Wish Gladio or Walmart Gladio or Budget Gladio tonight.

And, just like that, this party was ready to get started!

There was definitely a point during the party where Prompto would be gravitating over to Liz, nice and relaxed from the drinks, coming up from behind to surprise her a little bit by wrapping his arms around her and leaning in with his chin practically on her shoulder.

It would probably not be the only time he'd do this.

"Doing okay?" he asked to check in and also just sort of be glad she was there with him.

Liz let out a giggle and she leaned against Prompto when he wrapped his arms around her, enjoying how close he was, "I'm doing okay," she assured him, "especially now that you're here," she said with a smile.

Well, gee, wow, Liz, way to go and say the most absolute perfect thing to split Prompto's face into the cheesiest, schmoopiest grin ever, as his arms tightened around her in an appreciave squeeze, and he pressed a kiss into her cheek.

"Yeah," he then said, sighing contentedly as his chin settled on her shoulder again. "I'd say my evening just took a major turn for the better about right now, too."

Especially since she also seemed to be having a good time.

Liz's smile widened as he kissed her cheek, "this is a nice party isn't it?" she said as she looked around the apartment, continuing to lean against him as she did, "I quite like the space theme,"

"It's incredible," Prompto gushed in agreement, eyes drifting upward again and roaming all over the stars scattered overhead, as a few streaks of color rushed by, trailing glitter. "Not gonna lie, I could probably just sit here and stare at the ceiling for the rest of the party and be perfectly content."

Which wasn't entirely true, not when there was also karaoke to be done, but...this right here? Not too bad a way to spend an evening at all, especially with Liz-glomping brought into the mix.

"It's definitely nice being able to stare up at it," Liz said with a grin as she also looked up, enjoying how relaxing it was to be able to do so and being with Prompto there made it even more enjoyable, "I've definitely never been to a party like this,"

Admittedly she hadn't been to that many parties in general but she was working on it.

And she was going a great job, too! Prompto gave her another proud little squeeze, took a moment to just sort of soak in that sight of the starscape a little more. "I think I definitely want to try to rope Summer into something for when it's my birthday, too," he decided. "Probably something with chocobos."

"I would definitely be interested to see what Summer can come up with for that," Liz said with a grin, "a chocobo themed party sounds great,"

She paused, "I sometimes think having a party would be nice for my birthday but I don't know ... I've also never really done anything for my birthday either," she admitted.

"Shhhhh," Prompto grinned a little as he whispered the shushing sound in Liz's ear, which he was also going to definitely use as an excuse to maybe sneak in a little bit of nuzzle of his face into her neck, "don't say that too loud, or else you'll summon Summer over here and we'll never get rid of her until you've got a party on the moon or something."

And after a moment of concern about being a bad boyfriend for not knowing, he cautiously ventured, "Urm, so...when actually is your birthday? Have you told me before? Maybe I could actually plan something for you."

Now that he said it? He definitely wanted to do it.

Liz giggled when Prompto started yo give her neck a nuzzle, “I won’t say it too loud,” she promised with a grin.

She paused as she tried to think back if she told him or not, “I don’t think the topics come up,” she said, “but my birthday’s June 23,” she told him softly.

Her smile widened, “I mean you don’t have to organise anything,” she assured him, “I don’t mind if it’s just a quiet birthday,”

"Well," said Prompto, grinning into her neck a little, "maybe what I was going to organize was just a quiet birthday."

He didn't know what he was going to organize, really, and, ultimately, it was definitely not going to matter, due to circumstances well beyond his control, but now he was thinking about it, and he was thinking of nice quiet birthdays, maybe reflecting nice quiet Valentine's Day dinners as of recently, and that grin on his face broadened and softened all at once.

"We could maybe go somewhere nice for a little bit," he mused. "Bring along some close friends, just a nice, quiet..." At least with the way they were positioned, she wouldn't see the blush starting to spread across his face, "intimate kind of thing..."

“That sounds really nice,” Liz said with a smile, also not realising that she wasn’t going to be able spend her birthday with Prompto after all, “I would enjoy something like that for my birthday and having it be small and intimate,” she said shyly.

"Then," said Prompto, "I guess that's what we're doing. June 23. Nice and small and intimate."

Maybe he could even pull off something in, like, Altissia or something! That might be getting a little ahead of himself, with everything going on with the war back home, but, man. Galdin Quay might be a good alternative, too! It was said to be super romantic...
