All things considered, getting Summer moved into her new apartment wasn't all that difficult. There were plenty of boxes, sure, but it never really occurred to her until those boxes were stacked up in her empty new place that she honestly didn't have that much stuff. Not actual important stuff, because most of those boxes were literally just clothes and shoes. A few with books and other things, sure, one box of old kitchen stuff from her dad's old bachelor pad, but that was honestly about it. She probably could have managed getting all this up here herself, but it definitely had been easier and more fun with BDG's help.

Despite the sparcity of the place, though, it wasn't until they got those last boxes in that it hit her good and hard that this was her apartment. Her own place. No parents, grandparents, brothers, roommates, husbands, nada. It was just her, and this apartment was hers. And that was so freaking cool she could almost puke.

But she didn't, thankfully. It did need to be said, though, as she looked around at the blank rooms and the small towers of boxes.

"Man, I really need to get some furniture."

"And even then," said Summer quickly, as if any space of time would negate it, "I should be coming with you. And, you know, I'm not really sure right now. Lemme get back to you on that on Sunday, once I kind of get a good idea on how much the store's going to demand from me..."

She trailed off a little, to try to make it more innocent when she asked, "Whaaaat'cha got going on Tuesdays and Fridays?"

"Any future missions we can use you on," Kanan promised. "You're here now, just packing you up onto the Ghost and going is a lot easier now. And you did well on our trip to Tarkintown. A lot of it is likely to be more of the same."

So, relief efforts. Robin Hood stuff.

"Tuesdays," he added, "I spar with Kaidan- he's the guy who runs that gaming place in town that isn't the arcade." And some of that sparring was more verbal than physical. Theirs was an interesting friendship. "Fridays, I spar with... anyone else who shows up on Fridays. And I'm training Gratuity in how to use a sword."

Summer loved the Robin Hood stuff! There was another thing that adventures with BDG will always have over adventures with Grampa Rick: they did it for the benefit of others, not for their own selfish...whatevers.

Really, that made more difference than anything else.

"You're training Tip to use a sword?" Summer asked. "Awww, how is she? Good? Ah, man, I should check in with her, too, I feel like I haven't seen her in ages...well, last time had to be that one Wednesday when I showed up and you were all..."

She trailed off, knowing it was a little bit of a weird subject for him, but she still smirked about it.

And that hair!

"All fifteen?" Kanan grimaced a little, and then pretended to be very interested in the handiwork in Summer's new ceiling. Why yes, it most certainly was a ceiling. Look how ceiling it was. "She's a good student. Fast learner. The squirrels tell me she held her own against the fish when that damn thing went berserk..."

It...definitely was a ceiling, yes. Even if Summer now looked, too, expecting to find a bug or something there.

Nope, just...a good old ceiling-like ceiling, there.

And then his words caught up with her.

"Wait," she said, "the fish did what now?"

Summer hadn't kept up with radio while she was away, no. It just made the FOMO flare up way too much.

"It basically created a shadowy hell-dimension in the woods and lured people in to torment them with the spectres of their pasts," Kanan replied, sighing. "And it happened to be at least five meters tall by that point. Apparently all it wanted was recognition."

Kanan was of the firm opinion that the way to get recognition was probably not by kidnapping, torturing, and almost killing members of the island's population, but what the hell did he know?

Summer was just going to stare at Kanan a moment before she remembered to blink, and if Summer I-Had-A-Spaceship-Melt-A-Child-In-Front-Of-His-Parents-Just-To-Protect-Me Smith was staring, that was probably not a good sign.

"The fish," she said, "did this. The Big Mouth Billy Bass that they were using as a prize for those weekly games they were doing this summer?"

"The fish did this. Backed up by any inanimate object that ever witnessed a Fandom local doing something it might hold a grudge for."

Watching Summer bluescreen over this one while he casually discussed the evil fish was one hell of an experience.

"Rey and I defeated a giant flower by running circles around it until it fell over, dizzy."

Yup, there it was again. Summer I-Started-A-Race-War-About-Nipples-When-I-Tried-To-Dismantle-the-Hive-Mind-Created-By-My-Grampa-Getting-Back-Together-With-His-Ex Smith was just going to blink at Kanan again.

That was...

"...God, I wish I could have seen that. Just that, with you and Rey. The whole five-meters-tall, hell-dimension, ghosts of the past thing I can probably do without."

There was...a slight pause.

"Why a flower?"

"No clue," Kanan admitted.

Wasn't like he had asked for enough information to be able to say definitively that the flower was pissed off at Reno for stepping on its buddies in some church somewhere.

"There was a giant teddy bear, too. It was wearing shutter shades."

"A giant teddy bear," Summer repeated. "Wearing shutter shades."

She looked down into her box of random pots and pans.

"Ahhh," she sighed, "it's good to be back. Here I was worried the excitement would've rubbed off, but, yeah, who was I kidding?"

"Excitement, rubbing off?" Kanan shook his head and laughed. "This place is never going to be completely boring, Summer. And if it does, that's what spaceships and portals are for."
