The Smith Household; Outside of Seattle, WA; Earth, Dimension FH-001; Thursday [11/28].
When it came to emergency precautions to jump out of the Thanksgiving weekend at home she was guilted into this year, Summer figured just her portal gun wasn't going to cut it. So she lowered her spaceship carefully against the curb in front of the modest suburban home where she'd grown up, because there were already two other space ships crowding the driveway.
"Oh, good!" she remarked. "Space Mom's already here, too! Being the first to show up is so annoying."
She then gave a smile to her passenger, trying not to feel a certain sort of dread over the fact that she'd also been blackmailed (threatened, really, to have her reluctance to ever bring Stark home with her brought up in family therapy) to have him finally make an appearance.
"Think you're ready for this?"
It was okay if you said no, Stark! They could totally just leave now and claim there was a portal glitch and go to somewhere not lame instead!
Like Boob World! Or something...
[[ nfb for distance, obviously, and mostly from the beleaguered boyfriend, but also open for calls, texts, or also dropping by got whatever reason~ ]]

What if they hated him, Summer? WHAT IF?
"But...yes? I hope so. It's just dinner. I can do a dinner. Anakin had us practice awkward family dinners in Ethics this week."

Although if you still managed to trip over that bar.....oof.
Summer gave Stark a pitying look but just reached over to pat his hand reassuringly, trying not to think of ancient alien turkeys. "I'm sure 'awkward family dinner' is all we'll have to deal with. Sure."
And, with that reassuring note, she shut off her ship, hopped out the hatch, and went to get the jello mold she, of course, was not arriving without.

"I don't believe you," he said. "But it will be fine. I think." He hoped. Was he squeezing her hand just a little too hand when she reached over? Yes. Was he now following reluctantly? Also yes.

She paused a moment, blinking as she got her stuff.
"...and sometimes my dad."
The side hatch whooshed to a close.
"...and Mom. Honestly, Stark, just don't almost kill anyone or make a mess of the place, and you'll be, like, top 10 guests. Easy, right?"
....right?

Oh no, did Summer think he was boring now? Did he need to panic?
"Or do I, compared to... the others? Should I ask about them? I wasn't planning on any messes or murders."
But, you know, plans could change...

"Well, I mean," Summer reasoned. "They usually aren't planned, but--"
A voice from the neighboring yard cut her off. "Oh, hey, Summer! Happy Thanksgiving! Your dad said he wasn't sure if you'd make it this year!"
Summer sighed and tried not to roll her eyes. "Hi, Gene. Happy Thanksgiving. Looks like I could make it after all."
"Hey," said the unassuming bespecacled man next door, "that's great! You know, I was just telling your dad--"
"Cool, that's great, Gene, nice to see you!" She was grabbing Stark's hand with her free one to make a beeline for the front door. "We'll have to catch up, but you know how it is, okay, byeeee!"
She breathed out a sigh of relief as soon as they cleared the door and were inside the house, but then it was immediately into that next.
"Oh, hey," said Morty from the couch, "it's Summer. She does exist. And so does her boyfriend."
"Morty, shut up, you've met Stark before, remember? When I had to do a Die Hard?"
"Ummmm, I was sort of trapped in a video game the whole time? So that doesn't even count."
"Yes, it does, you weren't trapped there the whole time," she countered. "Also, what the hell, Morty? You're like twenty. Why do you still look like you're fourteen?"
"Don't ask about why Morty looks fourteen, Summer," said Rick.
"Why?" Summer foisted her jello salad at Stark to hold so she could better cross her arms in front of her with her huff. "Because you've probably done something fucked up to stunt his growth perminantly?"
"No, sweetie," said Beth, trailed by Beth, as they came out of the kitchen, "it's rude
"
Still, she moved over to hug her, and so did the other Beth, and the first Beth, the Earth one, added, "Glad you could make it, Summer. And you must be Stark."
"Right," said Summer, as if just remembering that intros were a thing. "Mom, this is Stark. Stark, this is Earth Mom and Space Mom. You already know Rick and Morty."
"No he doesn't!" Morty insisted.
"Oh, go drop your testicles six years too late finally," Summer countered.
"I'm warning you, Summer...." said Rick, ripping a burp before giving her the stink eye.
So, you know, welcome to the Smith household, Stark!

Rude, Morty.
"And yes, hello. Good to me. Both of you," he said to the Beths, holding on to the jello and grateful it gave him something to do with his hands.
He was going to try and ignore Rick though. For the moment.

Was she already thinking up and 'oh noooooo, looks like [blank]!' excuse? Definitely.
Was the only thing preventing her from just following through regardless her uncertainty about just abandoning Stark to the family unit? Probably.

Please, distract him with slightly more off-beat family drama.

Did that help, Jack? Did it??
