Some Very Cool Space Club; Out in Space; Dimension FH-001; Saturday Evening [07/20].
On Wednesday, Summer had learned that today was Harley's birthday, and Harley had learned that there clubs in space, and so naturally, the two of them were putting one and one together and taking Harley out to go space clubbing for her birthday, because, like, obviously.
And also dragging Atton with them, because hilarious. And the crossover between people who were apparently supposed to think he'd been iced in space and those who knew for a fact that he hadn't been was very slim, and Summer was going to take advantage of those spheres aligning as much as possible.
So there they were, in a space club. It was very cool, but also very space-y, especially in the fact that they were in the minority as far as looking distinctly human went, the music was crazy but had a good beat you could definitely dance to, and literally every single drink glowed, because that's what drinks just did in space clubs, duh. And even though Summer didn't know Harley too well at this point, she felt it was a good idea to at least let the bartender know that they were working with human digestion here and to restrict accordingly, but also she'd arranged for a special birthday drink with, like, cool space sparkles or whatever, to be brought out to her at some point.
But, either way, it was definitely more interesting that just hopping to the mainland, and they'd taken her ship here, too, so if this club ended up sucking, they could just head somewhere else instead. But she'd always had good vibes at this one, and there was a minimum of people likely to drop in that might also facilitate a hasty exit.
[[ mostly for the birthday girl and that old man, but, hey, you wanna be at a random space club, get in contact, nudge yourself into an invitation, I'm so not gonna complain....too much. And NFB for distance, obvi ]]

It was early days, though. And this place was only giving him knock-off nostalgia.

"I could definitely hook us up with something for just the latter of that equation," Summer pointed out cheerfully. But, in all her overtly chipper sweetness, there was an undercurrent of sincerity softening her smile.
"Thanks for coming out tonight."

"No problem," Atton said easily, with an idle shrug and the easy smile that, these days, was actually easy. "I like Harley. And after dragging you out to my neck of the woods like half the summer, it'd be stupid not to sort-of return the favor."
Sort-of in that it wasn't Summer's neck of the woods technically, but also actually in that in many ways the multiverse was Summer's backyard anyway.

Not that she knew anything about that.
"Lemme get you a drink! What do you want?"

A pause.
"Also, they don't have Coke. Is Space-Pepsi okay?"

But she did go to get herself another drink and something for Atton, returning way more than just a Space-Pepsi, but something that would be closer to a Cherry Vanilla cola, with a little garnish of some orange-colored berries.
What? She missed getting him fancy drinks, okay?
"So!" she prompted, handing the drink over. "Trent find out about our rogue TikToks yet?"

Filled by Summer drinking from the straw in her drink.
"I'm torn," she finally stated, "between asking what his logic is there and knowing that there probably is no logic there except...Trent. So instead, I'm just going to widen my eyes with intrigue," which she indeed was now doing, "and ask: music video??"

This needed to be said before she addressed anything else.
"... But yeah, I guess we did a video? Feels a little presumptuous to me, but who knows."

That was loud and cheerful and complemented by a giant grin. Also kind of bouncy, but everything Harley said or did right now was.
"I didn't know if you'd actually come."

Right now, though, she blinked at him.
"... Am I really that high in the rankings, or is your life just really sad?"

She was going to be using that one a lot.
(Also, no, sadly he wasn't special. In this regard.)

Not getting into that, but just saying.
Anyway, her expression was brightening back up again already, with a big ol' smirk and raised eyebrows. "But, taken by who? What? Gossip!"
no subject
"Nobody you know," he said, and took a sip of his soda. "Okay, sorry, that sounds like 'I have someone in Canada'. Nobody on the island. I'm dating my guitarist back in NYC. It's nice and drama-free, which is what I've missed for the past forty years of my life, so I'm excruciatingly glad I don't have big gossip to share."

He brought up his glass of soda. "If this were happening five years ago I'd probably be living under a different name in a different galaxy by now."
The joys of chronic self-hatred and a flight-oriented stress response.
