Honestly, really, Summer probably should have just made some sangria automatically as soon as she realized what was going down last weekend, because it was inevitable, wasn't it, that it would be desperately needed? Although she had to admit, whipping out the quick jello shot maker on Saturday had been kind of a stroke of genius, it didn't quite have the same effect as a proper sangria night, and Summer had to admit, she was kind of looking forward to it way too much.

But she had her sangria (infused with all her favorite fruits that she was still able to get in from Rey's galaxy), she had some pizza on standby on the coffee table, there were little shot glasses of rum and the sangria itself for the squirrels, and Pancakes was hitting her nice mellow stride after a burst of catnip activity so she'd be nice and chill and open to snuggles if necessary.

Now all she needed was a bestie.

"Oh, man," said Summer, unable to help a small chuckle at that pro-nun-ci-ation, "emotionally??"

Yes, she said it exactly the same way.

"Now, that, I want to see. I can't even picture what an emotionally loosened Rey would even look like."

But how she said it was a pretty good start, really.

"I'm not that bad," Rey protested, though she wasn't actually bothered. "I just keep my problems to myself."

Due to parental trauma, and look how she was here, talking about problems!

"Because that's always been known as a very healthy way to handle your problems," said Summer, aka a pot calling a kettle black.

But she had a therapist, so technically speaking...

"My other alternative is just crying at people," Rey said. "Which I don't particularly like doing."

Even if she had a long and storied history of it.

"Rey," Summer leveled a look at her, "I would take you just crying at be over you just bottling things up and keeping closed off any day of the week."

A pause. A sip.

"And not just because the former usually also involes tasty wine, either."

"I know," she said with a nod. "I need to be better about that."

"Yeah, well," Summer pointed put, with a note of triumph, "now that you know your parents didn't just up and abandon you, you've got no excuse! You said so yourself. Crying your eyes out and being emotionally vulnerable, here we coo~oome!"

"I don't think I can do it on cue," Rey stated.

"That's fair," said Summer, grinning faintly. "It's still new, after all, bit I'm sure we'll get there. I, for one, am looking forward to the potential new, open, emotional Rey. Cheers!"

To which she lifted her glass and drank with all the gusto such a toast required.
