MHA #4; Sunday [01/08].

Despite any claims that January should be a month for relaxing and techarging and any complaints about just wanting to be done with planning any sort of weddings or parties or events, Summer was about two days off of her last big thing and was already feeling a little bored. A little antsy. A feeling that could be staved off by one of two things:

1) Fuck off to space for a little while

Or

2) Plan another party.

And just look who just so happened to be tasked with being in charge of deciding on when the birthday of a Very Good Friend (and JUST A Friend OMG) should be.

So, behold! Summer was relaxing on her couch, putting out a mass text to, like, pretty much everyone except Stark.

And, with that sent, it was now time to fall deep, deep into a jello shot rabbit hole.

In what was probably far too quickly for someone with low tolerance levels, Steven texted back,

That's no problem! Spreading the word. Or keeping secrets. Bit good at that last part, aren't I?

There was a pause as Steven then wondered if keeping secrets about a birthday party could in any way make him come off like a serial killer. He hoped not.

There was a longer pause as he went through several mental drafts of his next reply, as well as a debate about sending it at all, before there was also,

That's not the surprise, is it? The world ending?

He was joking! About his memory issues! Very uncomfortably so and "joke" was doing a lot of heavy lifting as a word choice but still! Attempt was made!

if i told u, then it wouldnt be much of a surprise, would it? Summer texted back with the alacrity of someone who had dealt with too many world-endings.

That was joking, right? Summer was joking? Possible good sign if she was joking back in response to his joke?

Steven debated the use of various emojis to convey his reaction, then decided he wasn't sure if any of them would work. So instead he went with:

Right. Well if I can do anything else let me know. Happy to celebrate Stark's birthday! Laters gators.

"Laters gators?" Summer repeated that last part, out loud, in a tone akin to abject horror, thus giving her no choice but to just leave that on read.

There was no way she could actually respond to that and still be able to live with herself afterwards.
