SO THAT WENT WELL.
After what had been an botched attempt to test out some coordinates to see if Summer was anywhere near figuring out how to get Seivarden home and winding up on her (very unfortunately named) good friend Mr. Poopybutthole's home planet, where his hopes to finally escape the clutches of his own celebrity were dashed like so many of the citizens waiting in the lobby had been against the wall, it would appear that Summer and Seivarden were indeed incarcerated in space jail, stripped of all their possessions, but, hey, at least the striped tops in this space jail were actually kind of cute, and they let Summer keep the hat from Mr. PB's disguise and Seivarden got to keep her gloves. They were small favors, perhaps, for all they were worth.
"I don't know how," Summer muttered to herself, clinging to the bars of the cell's door and glowering at the backs of the guards as they retreated after locking them up, "but I'll save you, PB. I'm gonna protect you..."
She was silent for a moment, and then cried out, "I am a citizen of Earth! I have rights! You can't treat me this way!"
But she knew it was falling on deaf ears, and she knew it was hopeless, so Summer gave a small kick to the door out of frustration, hopped a little while grabbing her toes because, fuck, that was a solid ass door!, and then bounced on one foot over to the wall, where her back hit it and she slid down slowly. Once there, she looked over miserably at Seivarden, but...at least she wasn't stuck in space jail alone.
"I'm sorry I, like, totally biffed this and got you thrown in space jail, Seivarden," she offered, though it sounded pretty lame and not at all helpful.

"I mean," she then said, "it could be worse. At least they didn't just execute us on sight, right? This means we can probably figure out a way to get out of here before they do decide to make a public spectacle of our brutal deaths..."
no subject
no subject
Which seemed like a bold claim to make right now, but...
"I was just trying to help," she added, softer this time, shoulders sagging, picking idly at the remnants of pink fingernail polish still clinging to her thumb but seriously needing a new coat.
no subject
"You get to pay for the pancakes," she said, not really believing that they would get out. With a deep sigh, she added: "At least... never mind."
no subject
That was assuming they'd do that. Punching their way out of here would be a little trickier if they planned to just let the two of them rot in here until the end of time.
...she decided she wouldn't mention that possibility to Seivarden. Yet.
"At least what?" she prompted instead, because, come on, Seivarden, you didn't expect her to just let you leave that there, right?
no subject
There was a bait there, Summer.
no subject
"Complicated?" Summer asked. "With you? Nooooo..."
She almost even managed to say that with a straight face!
Almost!
no subject
"What do you mean?"
no subject
They were probably going to be in here for a while, so...
"What do you think I mean?" she countered.
no subject
no subject
no subject
That was ridiculous.
no subject
Somehow. She hoped...
...no. She couldn't think like that. They HAD to. It wasn't just them in jail, either, but Mr. PB was left to the mercy of all those rabid fans...
She let out a breath and looked over.
"Is this about Amaya and Lucifer?" she asked.
no subject
She was not a doormat.
no subject
Also, Seivarden might as well have the word 'WELCOME' stamped on her forehead, in Summer's experience, but sure you weren't, Seivarden.
"That's not even complicated, though," said Summer. "I mean, if you don't want to mess up things with your one friend," she was pretty sure who was who in this situation, but wasn't going to be the one to bust out identities, "just ignore the other friends but if the other friend has some good points, well...he's probably just looking out for you. Do you think they're good points?"
no subject
"Well, I think Lucifer has the best intentions, but would you try to talk about how you feel about your friendship with Amaya, when she has explicit rules against it?"
Or rather, talking about the sex.
"And then I'm the one who doesn't want to talk about things because I don't want to talk to either of them about it."
Her frustration with this was becoming increasingly obvious.
"Aatr's tits, can't they behave like adults."
no subject
That seemed worth exploring.
That middle part, though, felt like kind of a knot, so she wasn't sure she was following, but she was still going to just offer, "So....then...just don't talk to either of them about it?"
no subject
She turned her head to look at Summer.
"And I tried, but Lucifer is still upset and called me a doormat."
She sighed. "Why do they make things so complicated?"
no subject
"I mean," she said, "they're not bad rules...for, like, flings are whatever, and it's obvious she likes to keep that shit personal; meanwhile, you've got Lucifer who like to flaunt and wear his sex appeal like it's one of his nice suits. That's, like, complete polar opposites, and you're stuck right there in the middle...."
And then, another thought: "Wait, though...thought experiment time, but, like, if you just listened to what Lucifer's apparently insisting on, doesn't that make you just as much his doormat? Honestly, at that point, just do what you want, Seivarden, fuck 'em both. I mean, you have, but...you know what I mean."
no subject
"I generally prefer not to hide things or obsessively bribe squirrels, but I also don't see why I'd have to talk about it if it works. And, and I'm not sure why I'm telling you this, but I'm not sleeping with Amaya anymore, so what's the point?"
She might die in a crazy prison. She needed to get this off her chest.
no subject
"You and Lucifer aren't going exclusive, are you?" she asked. "Or was this Amaya's choice? It's not because I knew, was it? I swear, I didn't tell her that I know. I only mentioned it to you and Tisarwat."
no subject
She paused.
"Do you remember that party when everyone was very... honest?"
no subject
It had been awesome for her, but she wasn't about to say that beecause she knew she was very firmly in the minority on that one.
no subject
That last part still hurt so she was going to pretend it didn't.
"No one has ever said that to me!"
no subject
meta forDegrassi High bullshit and how are you all older than me?"And then there was another moment, because there was so much to unpack there, it would take at least two unboxing videos.
"You know what we need?" she then asked. "I mean, you know, once we get out of here?"
It was rhetorical, so she went ahead with the answer, with a firm, conclusive decision. "A sangria night. It'll be exactly like this, but better, because there's wine and we'll not be in space jail."
no subject
That was because you never used to have to deal with people's issues.
"Sangria is some kind of wine?"
no subject
Sure, Summer, it definitely didn't have anything to do with the fact that you had absolutely no game on island, but you keep telling yourself that.
"But, yes," she then added, before anyone noticed any huge gaping holes in that statement. "It's a very strong fruity wine and it's delicious and it's perfect for getting you through a bunch of issues with your girlfriends. I had a sangria night with Rey not too long ago, and I really think it helped her out."
It had mostly dissolved into Summer giving her frequent firm but drunken affirmations about agency, but still!
"You can just let everything out." Her voice dropped into a mysterious sort of whisper with an opening, releasing gesture of her hands, "Tell all your problems to the sangria."
no subject
"And to you."
no subject
It was almost cute when Seivarden proved that she wasn't really as dumb as she seemed most of the time.
"And to me," she agreed, since there was no point in denying it, and she laughed a little. "But I am a really good listener, Seivarden. Maybe that's all you need, just someone to talk to about it that's not all tangled up," well, mostly not, "in all...that."
no subject
"You might have a point. As long as you're aware I tell you things in confidence."
no subject
no subject
no subject
"Plus," she added quietly, looking down at her hands again, "I like being able to help my friends."
Even if that was exactly what got them into this mess in the first place.
no subject
"I've noticed."
There was nothing sarcastic or accusatory about it.
no subject
So, instead, she closed her eyes and vowed that she would figure this out. She kind of had to.
"Besides," she then added, opening her eyes again with a faint grin, "you totally said back there that you trusted me, you can't take that back now."
no subject
Seivarden looked at her.
"You're not going to forget that, are you?"
no subject
She snorted as she shook her head and left it there.
"Don't worry," she said, with a determined look toward the cell door, "you won't, either."
no subject

no subject
She leaned back against the wall.
no subject
And the restlessness and the turn in the conversation got her feeling nasty again, so she sighed a little herself, and then crawled over to the cell door so she could at least start looking into how it might be picked or broken down, probably until a guard came around and told her to knock it off or something.
But it was something.
no subject
no subject
Also mostly as a joke, but also....kind of not?
"But, I mean, from where I'm standing," or kneeling, as it were, in front of the door, "it kind of sounds like you'd have it handled just fine if Lucifer just butt out of you and Amaya's business. I mean, you two have been friends for a while, right? I've never rely heard of you two having problems like this before...and if it's not an exclusivity thing..."
And then, suddenly, Summer gasped, eyes widening with realization as she straightened. "Ohmygod!"
no subject
Seivarden looked slightly worried.
no subject
Priorities!!
no subject
It felt better to make plans.
"But can you get back to the helpful friend thing?"
It was ridiculous to ask Summer, but at least she could rant about it.
no subject
At that point, a yellow face slowly appeared in the barred window in the door, but eyes bulging through the gaps.
"Ma'am," said the guard, "I'm going to have to ask you to step away from the door, or else we'll just cut off your fingers and feed them to your friend for dinner."
"Okay, rude," said Summer, who scooted back, hands in the air to show how not touching the door they were, "and also gross."
"IT WOULD BE WHAT YOU DESERVE!" the guard barked angrily, before slowly lowering himself back out of the window.
Summer glared for a moment, got up to her feet, and shouted after him, "You don't deserve Mr. Poopybutthole! None of you!"
And, with a huff, her attention shifted back to Seivarden. "But okay," she said, "weird love triangle thing, you and Amaya are still friends, but without the benefits, Lucifer says your're a doormat while simultaneously telling you what you should do..." She plopped down on the bed, patted the space next to her, because seriously, that floor was gross, why were they sitting on it, "what else is in your mind?"
no subject
She hadn't, but also she didn't seem to care that much.
"And why does Lucifer even care? It's none of his business! I don't rant about his crazy ex, it puts him in a terrible mood."
no subject
And then she paused, wondering if she should even touch that Amaya part with even a ten foot pole.
...no, they were stuck here for a while, she better not go and set the room on fire quite yet...
no subject
No, she wasn't going to go into detail here.
"I'm starting to wonder if it's some of his issues, and I really don't want to talk about those. They're usually about his crazy family. Or the ex. But usually about the family. They're really rude too."
One of them had called Seivarden Lucifer's human.
no subject
Sure, Lucifer's family, as she could imagine it, was probably a bit worse, but she'd contend that, for a bunch of humans, her family definitely carried their weight.
Hell, the whole reason they were even here traced back to her shit family...
"So then he's possibly projecting his issues onto yourd," Summer said. "There's something there about your relationship with Amaya that runs him the wrong way, or maybe he just doesn't like Amaya and he's being mopey about it because that's what he does. Either way, it sounds like maybe what you guys need to talk about isn't so much you and Amaya, but rather you and him. Or things you guys don't want to talk about. Classic projection."
no subject
"Amaya just avoids me and Lucifer gets annoyed. Or mopey. If I talk about it. If we get back I should probably just ignore the subject, Amaya will like that at least."
no subject
"But there you go. If you don't want to talk about it? Then just fucking don't. And if he wants to, then tough tits. I'm sure you two have better things to do than talking."
There was a pause.
"I hope you two have better things to do than talking..."
Otherwise this just got just kind of...sad? Pathetic? Mildly infuriating? One of those.

She paused.
"I really need a drink."
no subject
She just grinned a little and said, "I'd ask the guard to bring us something, but I don't think we'd want to actually drink anything he'd serve us."
no subject
She looked at Summer.
"If it wasn't for getting us stuck here I'd say you're fairly mature for your age."
no subject
"But what about this means I lose points on that?"
no subject
Seivarden almost smiled.
"By the way, I'm guessing you haven't told Amaya about figuring things out."
no subject
Miraculously, even more seemed to go over Amaya's head than even Seivarden's...
no subject
"Are you saying I'm fun to make fun of?"
no subject
no subject
"Should I be flattered?"
no subject
This was patently false. No one even came remotely close except maybe her brother, her dad, and Tino. And they were all way too easy.
no subject
"You need better hobbies."
She added: "Why?"
no subject
And as for the why question? She didn't really say anything, because she honestly wasn't sure what the answer to that even was...

"Next step of my plan," she offered, feeling it would be okay to trust Seivarden enough to divulge as much, "actually involved annoying the boring vampire. Don't say anything, though. It'll work best if he'd not expecting it."
That, and she was maybe realizing that going through Lucifer was pretty much useless, but she wasn't saying that to Seivarden.
no subject
If only because Eric was boring and having Summer and Tisarwat being able to drink alcoholic drinks there would be more fun.
