Summer winced slightly, as Stark rolled away even that small bit, because she knew she could have just not said anything, but also, there was a part of her that also felt like she actually sort of kind of did have to. So there might have been a moment of hesitation, but then she shifted to match his shifting, curling up against him with her head resting against his chest.

"I know," she said, pretty sure that she pretty much already had, and the real kicker was that she couldn't really tell if she'd done that on purpose or not.

Or maybe she could tell, and just didn't want to have to face that.

"But you could have gone and made it this whole thing, and you didn't, and I know you even tried and branched out a little..."

She lifted her head to look up at him.

"And I just want you to know I appreciate that."
